3D2N KANOU KANOU HOMESTAY WITH KUDAT & KINABALU PARK, PORING

DAY 1

0730hrs - Meet & Pick up at hotel lobby and transfer to Kudat for an easy breezy day outdoors! 3 hours out from the city marks Kudat, where the South China Sea and Sulu Sea converge. This little slice of paradise, beautiful with the harmony of sunny skies, blue seas. The journey will bring you through scenic countryside, paddy fields, villages, palm oil plantations; local stalls selling handicrafts and food items. Along the way, make a brief pit stop at a location packed with stalls selling locally made snacks to get some munchies. Proceed on for a friendly visit to the modern long house village at Sikuati, a great opportunity to mingle with the local Rungus settlers from the village.

1130hrs - Be greeted by the breeze at the Northern Tip of Borneo, also known as Tanjung Simpang Mengayau which means ‘lingering junction’ as it is here that the South China Sea lingers and meets the Sulu seas flowing from the East. After a short walk from the entrance you will arrive at the wondrous landmark, a place where you can take memorable photos & videos.

1300hrs - Thereafter proceed to the Bavanggazo Village for a longhouse visit. Built entirely using raw materials found locally, it is home to the Rungus community, a sub-tribe of the indigenous Kadazandusun. Observe their very own unique bead works, lifestyle and costumes. Lunch will be served Rungus style. (Traditional Native Lunch)

1400hrs - Depart for the “Gong” making village, Kampung Sumangkap. Well known for local artisans and their exceptional skills of crafting musical instruments rich with history and meaning.

1430hrs - Moving forward to the sweet sticky business of bees at the Gombizau Honey Bee Farm. Get a feel of what actually goes down at the honey farm and of course, a taste of raw honey straight from the comb!

​

1500hrs - Transfer to Kanou Kanou Homestay for overnight stay (Free and easy activity, optional activities are available at the home-stay upon request and is chargeable)

                  

DAY 2

0700hrs - Wake up to the sound of nature and a beautiful sunrise behind the mountain. Local breakfast will be served before the trekking activity begins. Trekking activity through one of the many natural trails located at Kanou Kanou while being escorted by your guide, showing you the wonders and wildlife which can be found there before heading back to the homestay (Trekking period of approximately 1 hour). Light refreshments awaits you after the activity.

1100hrs - transfer from trekking endpoint and proceed to Kadamaian river for your rafting tour which is located approximately 15 minutes outside of the homestay area. Once you have arrived, lunch will be served first before proceeding to the starting point where you will be briefed on the safety an procedures for rafting by one of our IRF certified guides, then begin your adventure! The Kadamaian River stretches from the foot of Mount Kinabalu to the village areas in Kota Belud and offers a scenic view closer to the back of  the mountain. The 10km on water level), graded level 1-2 and is moderately adventurous and relaxing, great for beginners to the more experienced rafters; it is fun and safe, even for young children as well as d the elderly thus making it a suitable family adventure activity.

1440hrs - Arrive at Xtreme Paddlers ending point at Kampung Taginambur. Freshen up, rest and enjoy the simple refreshments served before departing back to Kanou Kanou Homestay for overnight stay.

DAY 3

0815hrs - Transfer to Kinabalu Park and join a guided walk at Botanical Garden. Thereafter, proceed to Poring Hot Spring which is about 45 minutes away – passing through scenic countryside, vegetable farms, roadside stalls and smaller interior towns of Sabah. Lunch at local restaurant. Upon arrival, uphill walk through the Borneo tropical rainforest to the 37 meters high treetop Canopy Walkway to bring you back to nature. Hear the chirping calls of birds and insects that will surely relieve the stress of hectic city life. Take a dip in the sulphur rich water tub or visit the nearby Butterfly Farm (Entrance fee not included).

1600hrs - Depart back to hotel.
